What does it feel like?
The sensation caused by an acupuncture needle varies depending on where the needle has been inserted. The patient may experience numbness, heaviness, tingling, warmth, slight pain, a dull ache or no feeling at all upon insertion. Once the needles are in, most people find the experience to be relaxing, as they discover a deep sense peace and well being
What should I do before + after a treatment
Try not to have a large meal within 1 hour of your appointment as you will be lying on your stomach for part of the treatment
Try to avoid brushing your tongue before the treatment
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments will vary from person to person. Some people experience immediate relief while others may take weeks or months to achieve results. In general, chronic conditions take longer to resolve than acute complaints. Treatments may be recommended on a weekly, monthly or seasonal basis.
After a treatment you're likely to feel relaxed and calm. If the treatment has been particularly strong, you may feel tired or drowsy. If you experience this reaction, try to rest and sip on some herbal tea
